She explores the world beyond the 3.5 feet she stands at. Her nickname, monkey, comes from her ability to climb just about everything with great strength and agility while being a goofball and spreading smiles to those around her. At the age of 4 she is already a rock climber, an artist and mom’s sous chef. Above all, photographing her has proven to me that she is a teacher as well. Like most photographers, I have a bit of a tendency to strive for perfection—whatever I conjure it up to be—to replicate the idea that I have in mind. As I crouched, skipped and ran after her, Chloe reminded me that sometimes it’s best to let what is be what it becomes.
I had a fun-filled day spent documenting her birthday as she played in the park, enjoyed cupcakes and painted pottery with mommy & me.
